District Overview

The 1st Supervisorial District is bounded on the north by Franz Valley School Road, the Napa county line to the east, to the west by Petaluma Hill, Summerfield, Brush Creek, Wallace and Riebli Roads, and San Pablo Bay to the south. Population is concentrated in the City of Santa Rosa (Bennett Valley, Rincon Valley & the community of Oakmont), the City of Sonoma and the adjacent unincorporated communities of Kenwood, Agua Caliente, Glen Ellen, El Verano, Boyes Hot Springs, Schellville and Vineburg.

Responsibilities

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Sonoma is charged with the responsibility of establishing policy to guide the various functions of the County and, where necessary, to establish procedures by which functions are performed.

Supervisor Brown’s assigned Functional Group of County Departments for the year 2010 is General Administrative Services. Special Assignments include:

  • California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Board of Directors
  • Bay Conservation Development Commission (BCDC)
  • Sonoma County Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Committee
  • Sonoma County Transportation Authority
  • Sonoma/Marin Area Rail Transit II Board of Directors

Supervisor Brown is assigned as an alternate member of the North Coast Supervisors Association.
