General Plan Update Citizen Advisory Committee
Description
The government of Sonoma County is responsible for regulating growth, development and use of resources within the unincorporated areas of the County. The County's principal means for accomplishing this regulation is the General Plan which was last updated in 1989. The updated General Plan, known as GP 2020, will be a long-range statement of goals, objectives and policies which guide decisions on growth, development and use of resources.
Authority
Board of Supervisors Resolution 01-0738, June 19, 2001; Action #42, March 13, 2001.
Duties
Attend and participate in various meetings, workshops and hearings; review and provide feedback on draft reports and other materials submitted by County staff and consultants; provide data and information to other Committee members applicable to the goals of the Committee; hold open public meetings publicized in advance, and assist County citizens in understanding the pros and cons of various solutions to resolve issues in the General Plan Update; develop and make recommendations to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors as appropriate.
Term
At the pleasure of the Board (The authority of the Committee will terminate after approval of the General Plan and certification of the EIR by the Board of Supervisors.).
Membership Composition
Fifteen members - three members appointed from each Supervisorial District.
