Planning Commission

Description

The Planning Commission is part of the Sonoma County Planning Agency.

Authority

Chapter 2, Article VI of the Sonoma County Code; Ordinance 192, 4/9/41; Ordinance 1204, 10/6/69.

Duties

The Planning Commission holds public hearings and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors concerning updates and amendments to the County's General Plan and zoning regulations. The Planning Commission also holds hearings and makes decisions on major subdivisions and mining proposals.

Term

Coterminous with appointing Supervisor.

Membership Composition

Ten members, two from each Supervisorial District; the supervisor appoints two members who alternate between the Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Adjustments so that each Supervisorial District has one appointee serving on each body at any given time.

Meeting Schedule

First and third Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at Permit & Resource Management Department meeting room, 2550 Ventura Ave., Santa Rosa.

Compensation

$75/half-day meeting or $125/more than 4 hours, plus expenses - Res. 99-0103, 1/26/99.
