Open Space Authority

Description

The Open Space Authority was created for the purposes of: a) the financing of the acquisition of interests in open space lands pursuant to expenditure plan adopted by the Authority, from willing sellers by the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District, which acquisitions would promote the purposes of the Sonoma County General Plan and the general plans of the incorporated cities of Sonoma County by preserving open space and agricultural lands; b) the execution of appropriate contracts with the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District to accomplish the purposes listed in a) above; c) the conduct of periodic financial audits, when needed, of the Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District.

Term

Staggered terms of two years with incumbent holding over until his or her successor is appointed.

Membership Composition

Five members plus one alternate, each being appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

Meeting Schedule

Compensation

$75 per meeting.
