Emergency Medical Care Council
Authority
Board of Supervisors: C-9-31 adopted 09/27/83 (Reorganized the existing Emergency Medical Care Committee); 90-1656, 8/8/90; 94-1483, 10/18/94; 99-0722, 6/8/99 (formerly Citizens Advisory Committee on Emergency Medical Services).
Duties
Review and advise Board of Supervisors on emergency medical care, provide system oversight and maintenance; engage in long-term planning and coordinating public education and injury prevention.
Term
At the pleasure of the Board; provider members serve a 2-year term and County EMS Agency coordinates selection of representatives from ambulance, hospitals and dispatch agencies.
Membership Composition
17 members: 1 from each Supervisorial District and 2 at-large representatives, 2 Hospital representatives, 2 from Ambulance provider agencies, 1 from EMS Dispatch, 2 from EMS personnel, 2 first responder representatives, 1 from a Sonoma County law enforcement agency.
